November Meeting

The November meeting of Crew 13 focused on planning for 2011 and two training activities aimed at improving the crew member's skills in tool identification and basic search and rescue.

All crew members present were given an opportunity to voice their opinions for the activities that they would like to see in the coming year.  There were many ideas put forward and the agenda looks to be exciting and action packed.  A final schedule will be developed next month and each member of the crew will be taking a role in planning at least one activity next year.

After the planning session, the members of the crew were put to the test.  Each member of the crew was presented with a number of tools and was required to identify each of the items present.  All of the members completed this test successfully and everyone moved onto the next activity which consisted of donning SCBA (self contained breathing apparatus) and completing a basic maze that was constructed within the station.  The crew members enjoyed this activity since it is a skill they do not get to practice much.  In the end many valuable lessons were learned including the proper way to clean the equipment after use and how to return all of the SCBA to service.

Two members of Crew 13 navigate the in station maze.
